Strange rituals from our corner of England.

Look closely at the beams of an old Wiltshire barn and you might find them: small circles and crosses scratched into the oak by hand, hundreds of years ago. Witchmarks, cut around doors, windows, fireplaces, and thought to keep a home safe. We've taken those marks out under an October full moon and brought them back into the home.

Bergamot and ginger arrive first, lifting the air with a bright, spiced warmth. Oud, sandalwood and coriander follow, adding smoky depth, while leather, patchouli, musk and cedar settle slowly into the space, creating a deep, lingering atmosphere.

Hand-poured in small batches using a blend of natural and renewable waxes, it provides a clean, even burn and a consistent scent for up to 40 hours.

Presented in deep olive green glass, screen-printed in gold with a full moon ringed by witchmarks. The marks are hand-cut and imperfect, like a rubbing taken from old carved stone, and they glow as the candle burns.

Made in Wiltshire

True Grace was founded in 2003 by Philippa and Roger Biles, and is still independently run from rural Wiltshire.

Every candle is blended, poured and finished under one roof, in small batches by our team of skilled artisans.

Portobello Oud is where it all began for us, from our first candle stall on Portobello Road. The witchmarks on this edition were found closer to home, in the barns and houses of Wiltshire.

Sustainability

Our Wiltshire factory has held Carbon Neutral status from the Carbon Trust since 2015, powered by solar power and renewable biomass.

Our candles are made with a blend of natural and renewable waxes, and burn for up to 40 hours.

Taking a moment

Light it when the day starts to slow. Before you sit down, before you look at your phone. Give it a minute.

Trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn. For the first light, let it burn until the melt pool reaches the edges. This helps the wax burn evenly and prevents tunnelling. Keep it away from draughts and always place it on a heat-resistant surface.

The fragrance will build as the wax warms. Let it.
