Scent Guide

Floral scents are timeless and embody the elegance and natural beauty of pretty blooms. With prominent notes like rose, jasmine, lily, peony, and tuberose, they have a wide range of aromas—from light, fresh, and dewy to rich, heady, and intoxicating. Our range of floral scents transport you to blooming gardens, spring meadows and orangeries.

What makes a scent floral?

Floral scents are often blended with other notes to enhance their complexity. These can include fresh, green notes, like grass or leaves, fruity notes, such as citrus or berries, or base notes like musk or wood. The inclusion of these elements can create different variations of floral fragrances.

Our Moroccan Rose scent is a great example of this, with Sandalwood as a base note and Green & Citrus top notes, making for a beautifully heady rose scent. Whilst our Orangery scent has top notes of Orange Blossom, Petitgrain and base notes of Amber making for a distinctive and refreshing fragrance.

ARE FLORAL SCENTS RIGHT FOR ME?

Floral scents are renowned for their calming and soothing properties, making them an excellent choice for relaxation. Many flowers, such as lavender, jasmine, and chamomile, have long been used in aromatherapy to promote a sense of peace and reduce stress. Lavender for example, can promote restful sleep, while jasmine is known to uplift mood and relieve tension. If you're in need of relaxation, then lighting a floral candle might just be for you.

Floral fragrances are also great for hosting too. Elevate your table decor and create the perfect inviting ambiance with a lit Geranium candle and a pretty bouquet for the ultimate floral experience.

WHERE SHOULD I USE FLORAL SCENT?

Floral scents can be used throughout the home to create a fresh, calming, and inviting atmosphere. In the living room or hallway, they add a welcoming touch. Scents like peony and rose are perfect for uplifting the space and making guests feel at ease.

Bedrooms benefit from soothing floral notes that promote rest and relaxation; lavender is especially popular for encouraging better sleep, while jasmine and chamomile blends offer a soft, comforting aroma.

Floral scents bring a clean, refreshing feel to the bathroom too. Our Jasmine Tea and Orangery fragrances will keep this space smelling inviting.

ARE FLORAL SCENTS JUST FOR SUMMER?

Floral fragrances are not just for summer and they can be enjoyed all year round, with different floral notes suiting each season. While light, fresh florals like peony and lily are often associated with spring and summer due to their airy, blooming quality, richer or warmer floral scents can be perfect for cooler months. In autumn and winter, floral notes like rose, jasmine, or tuberose can be paired with deeper elements like amber, vanilla, or woods to create a more cozy, comforting scent. Some florals, like our Lavender and Orangery scents are versatile enough to be used any time of year thanks to their calming nature.

WHAT DO OUR WOODY SCENTS PAIR WELL WITH?

Most fragrances that are in the same fragrance family work well together as each adds their own personality to the mix without clashing. Pairing within the same fragrance family is also great if you have a preferred scent type but want to enhance the notes you already love.

Portobello Oud & Orangery

Woods and heavy florals add a beautiful complexity and depth to one another and combining the two is a great way to tailor your home’s signature scent to the seasons by either making a woody base summery or a floral base more suited for winter. Portobello Oud’s exotic wood notes and Orangery’s heavy florals create a wonderfully atmospheric and truly unique scent when paired.
