Wiltshire After Dark ~ Classic Candle Set

Strange rituals from our corner of England.

Look closely at the beams of an old Wiltshire barn and you might find them: small circles and crosses scratched into the oak by hand, hundreds of years ago. Witchmarks, cut around doors, windows, fireplaces, and thought to keep a home safe. We've taken them out under an October moon and brought them back into the home, on two candles made for the long nights.

Portobello Oud opens with bergamot and ginger, before oud, sandalwood and leather deepen into a smoky, spiced warmth. Henge opens bright with bergamot and grapefruit, then leather, sandalwood, incense, oakmoss and cedar settle into a rich, grounding atmosphere.

Each candle is hand-poured in small batches using a blend of natural and renewable waxes, giving a clean, even burn and a consistent scent for up to 40 hours. Together they make a good gift, and a good reason to light something on a dark evening.

Both come in deep olive green glass, screen-printed in gold. One carries the full moon, the other the crescent, each ringed with hand-cut witchmarks that feel like a rubbing from old carved stone. Side by side, they show the moon in two phases.
